Project Description

For several years we have been supporting Kitini College in Lalitpur District, a large state school that has 1,200 students from kindergarten up to postgraduate level. We have supported the construction of a computer suite and science classrooms, allowing the school to expand its curriculum and to convert from being a Nepali medium school into an English medium school.

In 2019, we completed a major retrofit project that made the school resistant to future earthquakes. When we began our support to this school the majority of the students were girls as parents were choosing to send their sons to private school.

Now the balance is 50:50 – a recognition of the high standards available at Kitini College. We levelled a playing field!

ChoraChori receives no government funding in either the UK or Nepal. We are entirely reliant upon grants from corporates and Foundations along with gifts that arise from community fundraising and individual supporters. Please do remember our needs if you are writing or re-writing your will. Even gifting 1% for ChoraChori after you have made provision for your top priorities could be made to go a very long way in Nepal. For further information on how we spent donations last year please check this summary of our accounts. And to find out more, just write to the ChoraChori Founder, Philip Holmes
